      <image:caption>This project with studioMDA was to be a boarding school for the best and the brightest girls of the poorest of the poor in the Warm Heart of Africa. Chris Maurer was the project architect for the Academy for Girls and coordinated a pro-bono international team of engineers and designers including ARUP, AKT, and Transsolar, an extensive local team of experts, and the Government of Malawi . The project lasted over 3 years from conception to construction when unfortunately the project's funder, Madonna controversially withdrew funding.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>This small structure was build for the Refuge Response at Ohio City Farm in 2020 using biocycler. (www.biocycler.org) Biocycler uses fungi to recycle and remediate construction and demolition waste. The outer shell of the structure was made by laminating reclaimed lumber for demolished buildings and the interior insulation was made by growing fungal mycelium on the saw dust created in its construction.</image:caption>
